A custom High Lonesome hat starts with a conversation. We learn how you dress, where you wear it, and what you want the hat to say before we choose the felt or shape the first crease.
For the fitting, we use a traditional conformateur to record the exact contour and individual shape of your head—not simply its circumference. That profile is transferred to a custom block made specifically for you. We then shape your hat around that block, creating a truly accurate bespoke fit that ordinary sizing cannot match.
Clients throughout the Florida Panhandle can be measured in-store, or we can travel to you for a private fitting by appointment.
From there, we select the right felt and weight, hand-block the crown, shape the brim, and finish every detail around you.

You do not have to figure it all out alone. The fitting is where we narrow the choices and build the right hat around you.
Which felt should I choose?
Rabbit makes a beautiful, comfortable hat and is the most approachable starting point. Beaver blends add durability and a finer hand. Pure beaver offers the strongest weather resistance and shape retention. We will help you balance feel, use, and budget.
What does a custom hat cost?
Custom fur-felt hats currently begin at $495 for pure rabbit and range through $1,295 for our chinchilla and mink blend. Your final price depends on the felt and any specialty details you choose.
What can be customized?
Nearly every visible detail: felt, weight, color, crown height and crease, brim width and shape, ribbon or leather band, edge treatment, distressing, and personal marks. We will guide the combination so the finished hat feels intentional.
How long will my hat take?
Timing depends on felt availability and the complexity of the build. We will give you a realistic delivery window after the fitting and before work begins.
